Hello My Name Is...
James Edmundson and I have been hired as the athletic director for Brogden Middle School. One of my first goals is to clean up the image of BMS athletics across the county. I attended BMS over 30 years ago and things have definitely changed at BMS and not for the better. My goal is to put STUDENT ATHLETES on the playing field/court and not worry so much about the winning and losing. I believe that by doing the right things and working hard the results will come soon enough. Before we can clean up our image across the county we need to fix our image at BMS. So little has been expected from our student athletes in he past and that is going to have to change. I've been at BMS for 4 months and I have seen some good things going on in the athletic department but we must continue to strive to gain respect from our peers. I have been in talks with teachers, counselors, students and the administration and our athletes are not representing our school well at all in the classroom. Mr. Townsend is adamant that we have to adhere to the standards of WCPS as well as the standards he has set for our athletes. I have done spot checks on grades, I-Ready and the reading logs and WE as an athletic department must get our act together. Report cards go out in just over 2 months and if we plan to have a basketball team (boys and girls) we need to work harder in the classroom. The standards are set, are we going to meet them?
